Time (Chapter 2)

Hello America,

I just want to say thank you for stepping up, starting with Tim Duncan and honoring the soldiers that bleed and die for us daily.

I want to say thank you Chicago Blackhawks for showing us that no matter how down things appear, never stop fighting, never stop believing, make them drag you off the court, off the ice, off the courtroom of life.....

Now we get into today....

Everyone is talking about where is Lebron, is he going to come back with a monster game....

Time shows all truths... it doesn't hide anything, it doesn't mince words, it doesn't play PC games...

When you keep doing the same thing over time, the result is a behavioral pattern that is called personality.....

Time minces no words, no behaviors.

There is one thing that no Nike camp, no McDonalds All-American can prepare you for ...

That Stephen A. Smith and Magic Johnson can find a metric to analyze....

It's called Leadership.....

One of the most influential players that never got his due as a leader....  on the court....

Was Admiral David Robinson...

Because he was a soldier, like many others... men and women who have to lead, who cannot run behind mistakes, replays, trading to other teams or groups...

they have to stand and produce regardless, they cannot run...

I think he was a very big influence on the Spurs and in addition to Pop's exposure to the military environment... it is the Spurs culture.

For good or for bad, they stand the same...

It's why they are not an emotional team, but they do understand the responsibility of duty...

They do understand that when duty calls, injuries, sacrifice, don't have shit to do with giving your all....

So when everyone asks where Lebron is,

I assert that he is right there.... and he always has been.

Lebron is one of the most gifted players athletically we will ever see, he wasn't allowed to play other sports, his body and muscles know millions of this point of muscle repetitions for every basketball player makes....

But he has a personality that "folds" under pressure, in the games the Heat win, you don't want to see it, in the Heat's losses you have no choice....

But in the end, searching for Lebron is pointless because he is right there.

And it's unfair to everyone who has bought into this hype to place this type of pressure on this young man who has shown time and time again he cannot handle it.

It's unfair to put on this pressure someone who didn't get even a semester in college to learn the art of the NCAA or NIT championship...  and learn talent don't always matter, nor the best roster or coach...

We have put a child in a man's place... and yet we don't have the courage to blame ourselves, just blame him....

We as a society are devaluing men and what men bring to our society, in particular straight men, and men who utilize concepts such as telling hard truths, not being politically correct, understanding intelligence comes in many forms including knowing how to use your bodies....

And no better example of that is through what we have done to Lebron Raymone James....

He can't see it right now, he got potential, he got millions, he got a world of minions to tell him how great he is...

but when he gets older......

When time passes......

When he looks back and sees the resolve that is in Pop's eyes, or Timmy's or David's......

When he thinks about and remembers the resolve in Dirk's eyes, or Rick's eyes, or Jason's eyes......

He will know I will never given a chance to get that look because I was never given a chance to fail, I was never given a chance to be try, everything was already determined....

And he's going to know why I say the things I do now, and why I weep for him while others idolize him...

And that my great nation is a disservice to him, his family and most of all to us...

Kind of would have liked to know what else Lebron Raymore James could have done with his life than bounce a ball....

It's not about me hating the Heat, I don't give a damn enough to do so.  Although Juwan Howard is a disgrace for the type of hater that is paid to sit on the bench, I don't appreciate Ray Allen for the way he did things... whatever, that's personal.

What I really hate is what we have done to team sports, to our culture because of the Heat and Lebron....

Every soldier that laces up their shoes, checks their rifle or weapon, puts on their uniform, knows the badges and stripes they have on does not matter to the enemy, knows the scores they made on their tests or how many pushups they can do on the base does not matter....

Every soldier at the end of the day knows....  regardless of what I don't have or what I do, I have to get the job done... My life, the life of my brothers and sisters and of my nation depends on it.

Every soldier is a leader for something within them, rises up, time and time again...

There is no need for an asswhopping to bring out the best.....

There is no need for a bad game to just be in a funk, because they know if they can't shoot the best, they can point, they can go get ammo, they can do something.

Tim Duncan's numbers will never be Leonards or Greens or Neals in this series... but the OLDEST DUDE ON THE COURT, out ran, out bowed, a rebound to get it to his teammate for a 3point assist, to tap in the ball.....

That's a leader because a leader don't falter from what he don't got...

He rises from what he has within... the desire, the behavioral pattern to keep fighting and giving whatever he or she got until somebody removes the breath from their body.

And God came up to me....

and shook my head and I simply said

Yo, We at war
We at war with elitism, sexism, and most of all we at war with ourselves
(Soldiers Walks)
God show me the way because the Devil trying to break me down
(Soldiers Walks with me) with me, with me, with me [fades]

Jesus Walks (Soldier's yell)
Written by Tiffani E. Mims (ASCAP Licensed)

My point is that we are at war with ourselves, if we can watch a team sport and only focus on one man to rise.....

Every soldier in San Antonio and all over the world that represents this nation....

Knows and prays to his or her God not to have the best stats, not to have the most credit, but to simply have enough energy to do whatever needs to be done to ensure the brother and sister next to him or her can get off the battle field safely and securely

and the team that understands this on the court and ice....

will win in the next two days.....

We saw a team prevail in the past two days because leaders don't need crowns...

they just need heart...

take care
